Look at the flower bed in both photos. Same stones, same garden statue, same patio chair. When somebody shows you a before and after, check that it's the same house — plenty of before-and-afters on the internet aren't.
Louisiana gets twice the rain.
Baton Rouge averages about 62 inches a year against a national average near 30, which makes Louisiana the second-wettest state in the country. And there's no dry season here — every month is a wet month. Keeping that much water moving off your roof and away from your house is the whole job.
Timing matters too. The usual advice is to clean gutters in the fall. Down here that only covers half your year — our live oaks shed in spring, and they drop catkins while they do it. Catkins mat into a gutter worse than leaves.
